Connect an agent

Connect Codex

Open Codex with a prepared setup request and authorize Orion in your browser.

Connect without finding an API key

Use Orion’s guided setup to connect the Codex app or terminal to your workspace. You do not need to create a developer app or edit a JSON file.

  1. Choose Connect Codex

In Orion, open AI connections and select the Codex card.

  2. Open Codex

The app link prepares a setup request in Codex. Read it and submit it there. The link does not send the prompt or execute commands by itself.

  3. Approve Orion access

Follow the browser sign-in, inspect the requested access and choose Allow access in Orion.

Check that it worked

Ask Codex to list your campaigns or create a campaign draft. Return to Orion and use Check connection. “Awaiting first use” means access was authorized but Orion has not yet observed successful tool access.

A verified connection is evidence of a successful request, not a promise that the agent is always online. Review the last successful use when troubleshooting.

If the app link does not open

Open “Use the terminal instead” in the setup dialog and copy the displayed command. It adds the Orion connection and starts OAuth sign-in. The computer needs Codex installed and its app-link handler registered for native links to open.

If Orion is already configured in your client, use that client’s MCP settings to authenticate or reconnect it. Do not overwrite an unrelated server configuration.
